MaxiEcu diagnostic kits consist of 2 elements:
▪️ interface (device / physical product)
▪️ software license (digital product provided online)
Currently, there are 2 interface models available: 4GEN Expert. Until 2020, the MPM-COM model was also available (in USB or Wifi+USB or Bluetooth+USB version).
How do I know what interface I have?
In the User account, in the LICENSES section, there is information about the interface model you have, along with a thumbnail showing the appearance of the interface and its unique number. However, if you want to make sure about the model you have, below are the characteristic features:
4GEN interface – called Batman because of its casing is our key product. Because of its shape it is really hard to confuse it with any other device. 4GEN interfaces have Bluetooth and Wifi (2in1) connectivity. Each 4GEN interface always has a unique 10-character number, usually starting with the letter “M”. 4GEN interfaces will work with the software license: MaxiEcu 2, MaxiEcu 3 and also the free Maxi327 application.
Expert Interface – called by some Ironman is a product intended for professional use. There is a characteristic logo and name on the casing. Experts have Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and USB (3in1) connectivity. They are sold in sets extended with additional cables. Each Expert interface always has a unique 10-character number, most often starting with the letter “E”. Expert interfaces will work with the software license: MaxiEcu 2, MaxiEcu 3 and also the free Maxi327 application.
MPM-COM interfaces – classics that still remember the first versions of the MaxiEcu software. They are no longer available for sale because they already have technical limitations in supporting newer protocols. Rectangular housing, on the housing a sticker with the name MPM-COM in a color depending on the interface version: red (USB version), blue (Bluetooth+USB version) or green (Wifi+USB version). Each MPM-COM interface always has a unique 8-character number. MPM-COM interfaces will only work with the software license: MaxiEcu 2 and MPM-COM in the Bluetooth+USB or Wifi+USB version will work with the free Maxi327 application. Users who have an MPM-COM interface can take advantage of the exchange offer for the 4GEN or Expert model
All interfaces are software hardware keys, so a given interface is always permanently linked to a specific software license. Software licenses can only be “transferred” to another interface in 2 situations:
1) in the event that the interface is damaged and our service recommends replacement with another copy. Necessary conditions – return of the faulty interface to our office in Gdynia + recommendation for replacement by our service.
2) in the case of our exchange offers. Possible exchange options include (as of 20.03.2024, until further notice):
- exchange of the MPM-COM interface for the 4GEN or Expert model (more about the exchange of MPM-COM interfaces in the entry: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX)
or - exchange of the 4GEN interface for the Expert model. Necessary condition – return of the 4GEN interface to our office in Gdynia. Exchange of 4GEN for Expert is not necessary – here is a comparison of both interfaces: 4 GEN or Expert interface?
The prices of exchanging interfaces depend on the current production price. All our devices and are manufactured in Poland. Information with details of the exchange possibilities can be obtained by contacting our Sales Department via the Application Forms in the User’s account.
How do I know what license I have?
In the User account, in the LICENSES section, there is information about the type of license you have and about the active brands on this license. However, if you want to make sure about the license you have, below are the characteristic features:
- If you have a 4GEN or Expert interface purchased after December 12, 2023 – you definitely have brands licensed by MaxiEcu 3
- If you have a 4GEN or Expert interface purchased before December 2023 and you did not use the offer to switch to MaxiEcu 3 – you definitely have brands licensed by MaxiEcu 2 + free OBDII module licensed by MaxiEcu 3
- If you have an MPM-COM interface – you definitely have brands licensed by MaxiEcu 2
From December 12, 2023, only a license for the new MaxiEcu 3 software is on sale. In fact, MaxiEcu 3 has completely replaced MaxiEcu 2, but MaxiEcu 2 remains active software with all its features and functions. Users with a MaxiEcu 2 license can use MaxiEcu 2 as before. Changing from MaxiEcu 2 to MaxiEcu 3 is possible (transfer offer in the User’s account), but is not mandatory. MaxiEcu 2 and MaxiEcu 3 are separate programs with different features and system requirements, for which a separate license is required. However, the free Maxi327 application, which is a publicly available product, does not need a license.
MaxiEcu 3 – Software version with black background.
System requirements: Windows 10, 64 bit or newer, Android 8 or newer (there will also be an iOS version eventually).
MaxiEcu 3 supports 63 brands, including 4 LCV brands and 8 brands from the so-called SuperCars category.
The scope of available support can be checked in the search engine on the website: https://maxiecu.com/en/products/functionality-search/ (at the top, above the search engine, select the button with the inscription “MaxiEcu 3”).
For some car models, so-called special functions are available in MaxiEcu 3, which require an active Internet connection and are additionally paid. Special functions are marked in the search engine as a separate category. The list of available special functions is also on the User account (note: not all brands have special functions – e.g. if you have a license for the Citroen brand, then there are currently no special functions for this brand. For this reason – the list on your User account will be empty; note: to purchase a special function for a selected model – you must have a license for the brand with this model, e.g. reading PIN in Clio III requires a license for the Renault brand). Possibility to add a new brand – directly through the User account. The license for the new brand is automatically generated after the payment is posted.
MaxiEcu 2 – Software version with green background.
System requirements: Windows 8 or newer.
MaxiEcu 2 supports 47 brands, including 4 LCV brands.

Possibility to add a new brand – yes, but only after prior contact with our Sales Department – via the form in the User’s account (write what brand you need – and we will send a link to a separate order). Orders are processed during the working hours of our Sales Department, i.e. on working days from Monday to Friday between 7:00 and 15:00.
Maxi327 – our first attempt with Android 🙂 This application does not require a license. It provides functionalities in accordance with the OBDII standard. It can also be used with most types of ELM 327 type interfaces. Praised for its cool graphics and additional screens, e.g. for Offroad driving. Downloadable from Google Play.
